Hair Transplant for Women

Hair loss occurs in more than 60% of men and about 10% of women which opens a new gate for Hair transplant for women. Some say, “A bad hair day is better than a no hair day”.  Hair loss is a major issue associated with loss of self esteem, insecurity and even depression for millions of individuals. So, we want to explain how is hair transplant for women. 

Society generally has less acceptance of women’s hair thinning or baldness.According to the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery, hair loss affects 21 million women in United States.It impacts on their psychological, social and emotional well being.Women find it even harder to share with their doctors their feelings about hair loss.

Many diseases can cause hair loss. Hair loss of scalp also causes increasing the risk of actinic damage and skin cancer. So hair loss is an important problem which have to solved immediately.

Physicians prescribe medicines to the patient with hair loss.But the medicine’s affects are limited. To this day, hair transplantation is the preferred treatment for most hair loss patients.

One of the fastest rising hair transplantation segments is Women’s hair transplantation. It has been developed for surgical hair restoration and has traditionally been used in males.New techniques are more suitable for woman.

 

What are the Causes?

The most common cause of hair loss in women is androgenetic alopecia. Other causes are genetic, alopecia areata, trichotillomania, poststress telogen effluvium. There are numerous sources that can cause hair loss in women. These are hypothyroidism, various medications, systemic disorders, trauma and infections.

The clinical presentation in women is slightly different from men. Women typically do not lose hair along the hairline but thin throughout the top.

Shedding on the upper side of the head is more common in women than men.Hair loss can range from early dilution to hair loss at the top and the bottom of the head.

A whole hair head contains about 100.000 hairs. In hair transplantation the healthy hair follicles of the patient herself is implanted to areas of hair loss. Hair transplantation creates a natural appearance. Because hairs are transplanted naturally in the scalp.

The hair roots in the nope area between tho ears are not sensitive to the testosterone. Thats why these hairs don’t shed. Hair transplantation is the process of transferring these hair follicles to the needed area.

However, hair transplantation is an aesthetic procedure that requires a skilled surgeon to create natural appearance Intact hair follicles may be caught within a patients’s scalp’s safe donor area.

The harvesting methods are Follicular Unit Strip Surgery(Fuss) and Follicular Unit Extraction.(Fue). The refinement of the follicular unit transplant has resulted in significantly better hair survival and natural results.

The hair follicules transplanted typically seem to grow during the immediate postoperative period. The follicules enter the telogen phase within a month and they are all thrown away.ıt takes around four months for hair to grow again.During the following 2–4 months, hair continues to improve quality and quantity.

Growth stabilizes at about 1 year.Reports showed graft survival rates in experienced hands of more than 95%. The candidate has a successful result with 2 or 3 hair transplantation sessions.

 

Hair Transplant Process

 

Transplantation of hair process takes about four to eight hours depending on the size of transplant you receive.If you want thicker hair, you may need another procedure later.

Hair follicles are taken under local anesthesia and placed one by one in the region with openings. Through the operation of the procedure under local anesthesia, the patient and the doctor are in communication during the procedure.

The patient feels quiet comfortable does not feel the pain during the operation.Only local anesthetic drugs may feel a slight pain. Hair transplantation process complications are rare .

Complications can be caused by technical error, poor planning and unpredictable factors in patient. Hair transplantation process have potential risks as with any surgery. These are undiagnosed bleeding from coagulation or secondary drug disorders, infections and anesthetic problems.

Some people experience inflammation or hair follicle infection called folliculitis around the time of new locks. Antibiotics and compresses can relieve the problem.There is also chance for scarring and unnatural leaking new hair growth.

In one study complications occurred in 4.7% of patients and included englander scar(1,2%), folliculitis(1%), areas of necrosis in the donor area (0,8%), keloids (0.4%), bleeding(0.2%), infection (0,2%) and pyogenic granuloma (0.2%) Talk about these risks and how much you will probably improve from surgery with your doctor.

After the operation, one or two days will be bandage on your head. Doctor will have a prescription for antibiotics, anti-inflammatory medicine for a few days.Most people are able to go back to work 2 or 5 days after the operation.

Hair transplantation is used in both man and women to treat different forms and levels of alopecia.The current hair transplantation techniques and technology can give you a natural look.Hair transplanting can now be offered as as reasonable option to female patients.
